Thank Any Pair

This poem does not have a compelling backstory. The title is simply an anagram of my name: Priyanka Nath. That is all!

Thank any pair
Of socks
Or shoes
And other things
That come in twos

For making you feel
Careless
Mismatched
And quite the fool!

It’s always these plurals
That are the most troubling
Singles leave no survivors behind

But one single sock
Or shoe
Can torment you enough
To hurl it into a black hole
And unite it with its separated soul!
